Two Victims Revealed in the Providence Campus Shooting as Police Continue Manhunt for Perpetrator.

Both young individuals who were killed in the weekend's tragic incident at Brown University were honored at the start of the week – as a manhunt for their shooter carried on following the release by Rhode Island officials of the single suspect of interest in the case.

Remembering Ella Cook

The student Ella Cook, a second-year student from Alabama, was remembered as “an incredible, grounded, faithful, bright light”, according to the Cathedral Church of the Advent, Birmingham, which paid tribute to her at a gathering on Sunday.

Cook was the vice-presidency of Brown’s division of College Republicans of America, as the club stated. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt also posted condolences publicly, remarking: “It's indescribable. Keeping in mind her loved ones and companions, above all her mom and dad.”

MukhammadAziz Umurzokov

The other deceased individual was MukhammadAziz Umurzokov from Uzbekistan, a citizen of Uzbekistan in his first year of studies at the prestigious university, family members said.

The victim's identification was officially acknowledged by the foreign office of Uzbekistan.

“He was exceptionally gentle, witty, and bright. His ambitions were lofty of pursuing a career in neurosurgery and helping people,” Samira Umurzokova, his sister said in a memorial statement.

The Shooting Incident

An additional nine individuals were hurt in Saturday’s attack in the engineering department of Brown’s grounds in Providence, during the school’s final exam period.

Officials stated by the end of Sunday that a 24-year-old male arrested in a raid at a Hampton Inn about approximately 17 miles from the scene earlier in the day was set to be freed.

“There is a killer at large,” said Rhode Island’s attorney general, Peter Neronha.

He continued, “Sometimes you head in one direction, and then you need to change course and go in another, and that’s exactly what has happened over the last 24 hours or so.”

Community Anxiety

Providence’s mayor, Brett Smiley, noted: “We know that this is likely to cause fresh anxiety for our community”.

The shooter discharged a weapon inside a classroom in the engineering facility on Saturday, discharging in excess of 40 shots from a 9mm pistol, a police source informed the news agency.

Police that raided the hotel recovered two firearms and two ammunition clips when the suspect was taken into custody, the news agency reported.

The Wounded Victims

Of the nine hurt, one pupil was allowed to go home, mentioned Christina Paxson, Christina Paxson. An additional seven were in critical but stable condition, and one remained in critical care, authorities stated on Sunday.

Durham Academy, a private academy in North Carolina, said a former student, Kendall Turner, was in the group of seriously hurt victims.

Cook was honored at a memorial in Birmingham on Sunday. A clergyman said, “Her presence was a wonderful, steady, pious glow not only here growing up... but at Brown she was an incredible light in that particular place as well.”

The president of College Republicans, Martin Bertao, released remarks from the organization. “She was famed for her bold, brave, and kind heart as she worked for her branch and other students,” he said.

An American diplomat, Jonathan Henick, said he was “profoundly grieved” by the student's death in a statement. “We offer our heartfelt sympathies to the Umurzokov family, loved ones, and fellow students and lament the passing of his promising future.”

The weekend's murders at Brown, the country's seventh most historic higher education institution with about thousands of bachelor's and three thousand graduate students, occurred during one of at least 392 shooting incidents documented across the United States so far in the current year, according to statistics. Monday was the 349th day of the year.
