Slot Insists He Feels Secure and Retains Liverpool's Support Following PSV Defeat

Arne Slot admitted that it's natural for questions to be raised about his future after a further convincing defeat against the Dutch champions.

Liverpool endured their 9th loss in 12 matches, marking the team's poorest run after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were dominated by the Dutch league title holders on a tough evening at their home ground.

“I feel secure, I am OK, I've received significant support from management,” the coach commented.

“It would be nice to change things and earn three points of course but when you're working as a coach and struggling then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He added, “I accept my position. It is not the first time I've found myself in a difficult position but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Conversations with The Board

Upon being questioned to elaborate on his dialogues with the club's leadership, the head coach said:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me every single minute of the day to say they have faith in me.”

He mentioned, “Through standard conversations we have I perceive the confidence. However I've not talked to them after this game so far so let’s see.”

Recurring Failings and Player Reaction

The manager expressed regret over familiar shortcomings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, specifically missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Jones was blunter in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the answers. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to everyone,” the midfielder said.

“It's simply not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I’m past feeling anger internally. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the words.”

He added, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the team I support. I support them, and I've watched Liverpool all my life.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a period like this with results so bad.”

Jones finished, “But we still have the emblem on our chest. And as long as that badge is taken away, we’re always going to battle.”

“We will attempt to get this team back to its rightful place, demonstrate to all again what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the best team in the world.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and it must improve.”
