Hulu is Producing a Popular Game TV Series from the Producers of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The most recent action-packed game that audiences explored was Far Cry 6, which featured Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the bad guy, Antón, and came out on October 6, 2021. As a series, it has a reputation for celebrating chaos and insanity with the same glee, all while presenting gripping, socially charged stories. Little surprise that the network’s new order for a Far Cry seasonal program brought on board two visionaries whose projects have represented all of those qualities.

About the Series

Adapted from Ubisoft's successful video game series, the limited anthology series will stream on Hulu and be produced by FX Productions. The anthology will also parallel the video games' style by introducing a new backdrop and ensemble in each season.

Executive Team

Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the talent behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will act as lead producers on the series under their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be partnered by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.

We’ve shared outstanding relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a total six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are thrilled that they are working together for Far Cry,” commented Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is innovative, compelling, and extremely entertaining. We also want to acknowledge our associates at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this popular property.”

Upcoming Developments

Mac will also star in the show, but at the time of writing, we have no details on what role that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently approved for another season, with FX and Disney signing a new overall deal with the producer.

“Having the opportunity with Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been remarkably accommodating, trusting us with one of the most renowned video-game realms ever created. And through it all, my FX team always encourages me with their steady confidence and backing.”

“What I love about the Far Cry game franchise is that it’s an anthology-style show. Every title is a variation of a concept, the same way every series of Fargo is a adaptation on a story,” said Hawley. “To develop a big action show that can change from year to year, while always delving into the core of humanity through this multifaceted and chaotic perspective, is a dream come true. I’m eager to partner with Rob and present our shared irreverent, daring style to the audience.”

A schedule for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus internationally.
